Feather Heart Generator - Poetry reading by Heny Kim and Guka Han

Join us at SomoS on April 19 2024 at 7 PM for "Feather Heart Generator" a reading in which South Korean expat writers Heny Kim and Guka Han share their poetry on language loss and love. Heny Kim transforms the loss of a friend into a journey of healing and reflection while Guka Han delves into motherhood and identity reconnecting with her Korean roots. Through their poetry they invite us into a world where the personal intersects with the universal where language both bridges and reveals the gaps between reality and perception. This event which also marks the presentation of a risograph chapbook featuring the 14 presented poems promises an evening of introspection and celebration reflecting on the dynamic journey of self-discovery and the unbreakable bonds of shared experience.

Over recent years expat South Korean poets Heny Kim and Guka Han have woven their joint experiences across Paris Seoul and Berlin into an inspiring vortex of creativity and camaraderie. Deeply engaged with women writers' narratives they've explored the depths of female storytelling and self-expression.

In the past year the rhythm of their creative pursuits found a new cadence in weekly virtual gatherings a poetry group that became a sanctuary for their words to flourish. As we prepare to unveil their latest work for the first time—before the pages of their collaborative journey are bound into the tangible legacy of a book—we warmly invite you to immerse yourself in their poetic universe. The reading takes place in English and Korean and entry is free.
