The Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot), commanded in Leviticus 23:33–43 and Deuteronomy 16:13–15, begins on the 15th day of the seventh month and lasts seven days, with an added day of assembly. It is both a harvest festival of joy and thanksgiving and a memorial of Israel’s time in the wilderness, when they lived in temporary shelters and Abba Yah’s presence dwelt among them. Families built and stayed in booths (sukkot), brought offerings, and rejoiced together with servants, foreigners, and the needy, celebrating Abba Yah’s provision and protection. Historically, Solomon dedicated the Temple during this feast, and in Nehemiah’s time it was joyfully revived after exile. Spiritually, it points to Yahshua, who “tabernacled” among us (John 1:14), proclaimed Himself the source of living water during Sukkot (John 7:37–39), and foreshadows the future when Abba Yah will dwell with His people forever (Zechariah 14:16; Revelation 21:3).
