About this Event
As part of our Homes of Literary & Visual Giants series, Professor Fontanella will discuss the fascinating King-Tenison family.
Edward King-Tenison and Lady Louisa (Anson) Tenison were crucial figures in the cultural history of Ireland's mid-nineteenth century. He a pioneer photographer and experimental scientist in that new field, while also a governmental representative on various levels; she a significant chronicler of their journeys together, and a directive figure in various manual arts...and in the way they carried out their lives. A view of their vital experience together amounts to a survey of several of the most significant cultural phenomena of their time, seen within a historico-political context of turmoil in mid-nineteenth-century Ireland and the continent.
