12.00 = CINEMA CAFÉ OPENS (Both films on 16mm) // Tickets are 70 kr.// No reservation via Email.13.00 = THE BAD SEED: 16mm, Directed by Mervyn LeRoy, 1956, 129 minutes /
This is the story of an evil little girl who murders, destroys and drives her parents insane – all with a sweet and innocent smile. Film examines the issue of weather “evil” is inherited or not and stars the 8-year old Patty McCormack who made movie history with this ultra-creepy performance. A classic of American horror cinema that stands as John Water’s favorite movie!
15.30 = “The Curse of the Crying Woman,” directed by Rafael Baledón, 1963, 80 minutes /
The Curse of the Crying Woman is resolutely Gothic, full of the genre’s characteristic tropes: an inherited curse, pervasive madness, a decaying old castle, a blurring of the line between life and death, mirroring and doubling, a persecuted ingénue, and an overpowering sense of impending doom. The title character — a variation on a Mexican folk tale of a woman, grieving her dead children, whose appearance is a harbinger of death — summons her niece to initiate her into her destiny as the next in a long line of murderous witches, and to assist in the resurrection of the original Llorona.
