Today, for current fashion trends, we look to social media or celebrities, as well as big fashion magazines like Vogue. In the 1870s, women got their up-to-date fashion news from magazines such as Godey's Lady's Book - arguably the most popular and well known of the United States' fashion sources in the 19th century. It included short stories, poems, and most importantly, fashions. As well as crochet patterns, millinery, and other small 'home' items. Elizabeth Ernst Miller will discuss Victorian women’s lifestyle as viewed through the February 1870 Issue of Godey’s Lady’s Book.
Admission for lectures is just $3/person. Old Cowtown members and volunteers get in free!
