About this Event
Welcome to Fashion Arts Workshop, CIFA's flagship program guides young designers from sketch to runway! Become the designer, tailor, and model. Each student will learn to sketch, drape, sew and style a complete outfit, and participate in a professional fashion photoshoot!
This is an immersive, hands-on experience for any children age 7-12 who are interested in fashion design or sewing.
No experience is necessary! We provide all the tools and materials you need. Our skilled instructors will guide kids through the entire process, from choosing fabric to making their ideas a reality!

Monday, 08/18 - Introductions, hand sewing 101
Info: Welcome designers! We're diving right into the process with our garment construction demo. Next, we'll learn basic hand sewing skills, and create a small take-home project. Finally, browse and select from our beautiful array of fabrics and materials to use in your design!

Tuesday 08/19
Info: We’ll start working with our fabric! Students will conceptualize and articulate their garment designs. Create a fashion sketch, and learn cutting and draping techniques that will bring it to life!

Wednesday 08/20
Info: We will continue to work on our outfits using hand sewing. Depending on time / experience, students may use a sewing machine to assist their process!

Thursday 08/21
Info: What other items will really make your garment pop? Think jewelry, a bag, hair ornaments. Conceptualize and create accessories and embellishments that will tie our looks together. Using your creativity and our selection of vintage and upcycled pieces, create your own style!

Friday 08/22
Info: We'll put the final touches in sewing our garments and styling our outfits! Please bring your accessories, shoes, etc. The photographer will set the scene for a fantastic, fun, photo shoot!
