Join us from 12-4pm on Saturday, August 7 to learn to make fascinators with professional milliner Marcy Frank! This small class provide plenty of one on one instruction in our well equipped millinery workshop. Spend an afternoon with us as you learn the secrets of hat making in this fun hands-on environment. Making hats is creative and provides a wonderful way to express your personal style!
In this class you will make a fascinator hat—just like the ones favored by the British Royal Family! Using a variety of materials like sinamay, horsehair, feathers, flowers and ribbons, this fun hat style is whimsical and stylish. Your materials will be secured to a headband, making it easy to wear and eliminating the dreaded curse of “hat hair!”
Utilizing a combination of glueing and hand stitching, you will build your own fascinator by layering your choice of foundation materials and trimmings. The Hattery will be providing all the millinery materials needed. Of course if you have some supplies of your own, feel free to bring them along. With fascinators it’s always the more, the merrier! Light as a feather and voluminous as a cloud, this iconic style is a perfect intro to hat making, and is open to all skill levels. Simple hand sewing skills are a plus, but are not required.

Marcy Frank has been making hats for decades, and worked for Beach Blanket Babylon for many years. She is currently an instructor in the costume design department at Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
