Winter is the best time to prune most of your fruit trees! Come join Farmer Rishi at Sarvodaya Farms for this workshop where you will learn and practice pruning a variety of fruit trees, vines, and shrubs.
Attendees must bring their own hand pruners (bring a lopper if you have one too). You may also buy pruning tools from us before the workshop starts.
During this workshop, attendees will learn hands-on by pruning existing and newly planted fruit trees at Sarvodaya Farms. Our orchard has over 70 trees of many different types. We will concentrate on pruning Apricot, Pomegranate, Fig, Persimmon, Citrus and Grape vines. This workshop is multiple hours long to accomodate everyone getting a significant amount of guided experience pruning trees. Practice is key!
Workshop will be led by Farmer Rishi, and assisted by Sarvodaya Farms staff.
SCHEDULE:
10am to 11am - Introduction to fruit tree pruning
11am to 12:30pm - Structural pruning for younger trees
12:30 to 1:30pm - Lunch break
1:30pm to 3pm - Maintenance Pruning for established trees
WHAT TO BRING:
- Pruning Tools including a hand pruner and optionally a lopper or pruning saw . You may also buy pruning tools from us before the workshop starts
- A water bottle
- Clothes you can get dirty in. Long sleeves and pants to prevent scratching your body.
- A packed lunch
