About this Event
<h4>The course covers the following areas:</h4>
- The aims of first aid, scene safety and the role of the First Aider
- Assessing a casualty using the Primary Survey
- Unresponsive and breathing casualty - recovery position
- Unresponsive and not breathing casualty CPR using current Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines
- AED (Automated External Defibrillator) - rationale for using the AED, safe use, reporting/recording, handover to the emergency services
- Treatment of crush injury, amputation, impalement, and severe bleeding
<h4>The Trainers:</h4>
The training is delivered by qualified health care professionals registered with the HCPC and experienced instructors and casualty actors.
Each attendee has the opportunity to act both as the lead first aider and as a helper/bystander.
<h4>Course Assessment</h4>
This short course, which is valid for 3 years, is designed to complement a First Aid at Work course - giving additional training to meet farmer and forester needs, and more importantly, to equip a student to save a life until professional help arrives.
It is a fully practical course with no written assessment.
Awarded a Certificate of Attendance.
The course is accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh)
