Waterworld (1995) is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi action film set in a future where the polar ice caps have melted, submerging most of the Earth in water. The story follows a drifter known as the Mariner (Kevin Costner), a lone, mutated sailor with gills and webbed feet. He reluctantly helps a woman (Jeanne Tripplehorn) and a young girl (Tina Majorino) who possess a map to the mythical "Dryland." As they are pursued by a ruthless pirate leader, the Deacon (Dennis Hopper), the Mariner battles both external dangers and his own isolation. The film is known for its large-scale water stunts and epic set pieces.
