This course is designed to focus on FARM to MEDICINE, working with the plants right from the beginning as seeds to seedlings to planting in the ground to harvest.
Really connecting you to where your medicine comes from.
Growing medicinals will be a large focus of this course, as Krista strongly believes that true connections with our food & medicine come from tending the land. We will learn about sheet mulching, preparing garden beds, specifics on growing medicinal plants versus food plants, propagation techniques such as seeding, cuttings, layering, & division, overall tending of a medicinal farm. We will be working right from the start of many plants with seeds, all the way to harvest and putting the garden to bed for the season.
As we harvest our medicine throughout the 6 months watching the plants shift and grow at the Little Farm Clinic and Michelle’s farm where Krista grows her medicinals, we will be medicine-making using a variety of solvents, such as water, alcohol, apple cider vinegar, honey and oil. We will also go deeper into tincture processing with percolations, pao zhi (TCM processing), dual extractions, succuss (fresh plant juice extraction), and diving deeper into topical skin care products such as medicinal soap, dermatology with preparing a beautiful rose cream, neroli toner, pink clay oil cleanser, and salves & balms.
Throughout the 6 month course we will be weaving hormonal health into the curriculum, discussing cycle charting, hormones and herbs to support transition years and to support hormonal health conditions.
At the end of this course, you will feel empowered to care for yourself, your family and to start your herbal product line!
