Another memorable evening of choral music in Queens' College Chapel from the Fairhaven Singers, directed by Ralph Woodward. Byrd’s passionate Ne irascaris makes a stylish foil for Howells’s anguished Requiem, which is suffused with thoughts of his dead son. After the interval, we premiere a new version for baritone (James Oldfield), piano duet (Hayley and Gordon Ogilvie) and choir of the gorgeous Songs of the Fleet by Howells’s great teacher (and former student at Queens’) Stanford, the centenary of whose death falls this year.Tickets: adults £20, students £12, under-18s free
