About Farang

Farang is a restaurant concept Blake has being playing with for years. Farang mixes his two loves: the flavors of Southeast Asia, and the smoke and barbecue of the Southern United States. Over the past decade, Farang has popped up in Louisiana, Mendocino County, and San Francisco. Homegrown in the Bay Area, Chef Blake learned to cook in New Orleans' kitchens, honed his craft in Barcelona, and after 25 years of cooking for the people, he now serves as the Culinary Director at La Cocina, a nonprofit culinary incubator.

About KPOO, Poor People's Radio

KPOO is an independent, listener-sponsored, noncommercial radio station. KPOO specializes in jazz, reggae, salsa, blues, gospel, and hip hop music. KPOO gives voice to the concerns of low income communities in San Francisco. Founded by Poor People’s Radio, Inc., KPOO’s ongoing mission has been to open the airwaves to the disenfranchised and underserved.

KPOO serves the Bay Area’s Black and Latin communities with several bilingual programs a week, and also produces programs concerning Irish Americans, Arab Americans, Native Americans, and women issues. KPOO broadcasts live the weekly meeting of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and non-stop election night coverage. KPOO also uses the airways to educate the community about important issues, including AIDS prevention, health concerns, use of the new technologies, Pr*son affairs, and consumer protection.
