Brunchercize Fan Club is back for spring for four weeks of...Fandelicious: Silk Fan Veil Dance Class
Level: Beginner/Open levelLength: 55 mins x 4 classes
Purpose: To learn the graceful art of dancing with silk fan veils. Through guided instruction, participants will learn to manipulate fan veils to create captivating movements (and have a great upper body workout while doing so).
Class description: Silk Fan Veils is an open dance class designed to teach you the fundamentals of dancing with silk fan veils.
In this 4-session spring term, you will learn how to dance with silk fan veils starting by establishing a strong fan veil technique base through simple drills and building to a fun choreography.
Some of the elements we will focus on include: fan grips, controlling your fans; caring for your fans, fan veil figure eights, transition moves, fan veil dance drills and a short group routine.
Each class will build on the skills of the previous week including applying what we’ve learned and putting it into a fun fan dance routine.
For ongoing students, we will be refining and building our skills including barrel turns, zippers, figure 8s and spirals.
Fan veils will be provided for use in class, but you are also welcome to bring your own.

Who is this class for:
Absolute beginners through to Intermediate level fan dancers.
What to wear:
Clothes comfortable to dance in. You can dance barefoot or wear soft sole dance shoes.
What to bring:
A water bottle and a towel.
About your teacher, Rainbow:
Rainbow is an international award-winning Newcastle-based performance artist, teacher and producer renowned for her fan dancing expertise. With more than 10 awards under her rhinestoned belt, Rainbow’s achievements include winner of the 2017 Burlesque Idol Australia Grand Final, Miss Burlesque ACT 2019 and Mx Burlesque Australia Miss Classic 2019. She performs regularly in shows and festivals around Australia having headlined the Australian Burlesque Festival, the largest touring burlesque festival in the world. She is also a founding cast member of Swamplesque, the Shrek burlesque parody, where she plays fan-wielding villain, Lord F. When not performing Rainbow can be found teaching the brunch-dance hour of power, Brunchercize, in Newcastle, the Central Coast and Canberra or producing Shakedown Cabaret (& Trivia) a cabaret combining two of the greatest experiences in life – trivia night at your local club, and the joys of air travel. As a long-time lover of fan dancing, she cannot wait to introduce you to the joy and art of fan dancing.
