Join Rosie AKA Coco Lom for a workshop centered around finding patterns in your surroundings to soothe your soul and mind.
About this Event

Our world is full of striking patterns, bold colors, and unusual shapes - and in difficult times, Rosie AKA Coco Lom found comfort in their confidence and regularity.

When we take the time to stop and deconstruct what we see around us, whether it be nature or architecture, so much of it is a combination of simple forms. During lockdown, Rosie created a photographic series called Peaceful Patterns, where she captured the many soothing shapes, patterns, and colors that she passed on her walks.

In this workshop, participants will use the city’s shapes, patterns, and colors as inspiration to make a series of postcards reflecting the overlooked corners of Battery City Park and Brookfield Place.

The hope is that you will come away with a soothed mind and a new appreciation for this spectacular city.

About Rosie AKA Coco Lom

Coco Lom is an artist and designer from Hackney specializing in abstract pattern. Her style mixes a bold bright color palette with black and white pattern, which has been translated into large scale mural work around her home city of London. She’s on a mission to open people’s eyes to all the patterns, shapes and colors that lie in the everyday world and help people celebrate the quiet details we might not normally notice.

She was recently commissioned by Pink Lady Apples to transform central London’s first art basketball court, as well as having her first solo show, sponsored by Estrella Damm, at The Book Club in Shoreditch. Her work has been featured by Sky Sports, Adobe, Creative Boom, Design Week and more. Clients include Covent Garden, Holland & Barrett, and Shoreditch Studios.

About The Fandangoe Skip *on tour*

Following 2021’s successful UK tour of The Fandangoe Whip, Annie Nicholson, AKA The Fandangoe Kid has partnered with Skip Gallery and CAUKIN Studio to present The Fandangoe SKIP, an ice cream kiosk made from a re-purposed skip in London and New York. The original project toured the UK offering ice cream and mental health support to diverse communities as we began to emerge from the global pandemic and all its challenges. Founded by artist Annie Nicholson, following her own experiences of grief, this project seeks to smash taboos around grief and mental health and offer an alternative space to open up the conversation, alongside a therapeutic programme curated by The Loss Project.

We are excited to bring the Fandangoe Skip on Tour to Brookfield Place New York in partnership with Brookfield Properties who are commissioning us. The New York installation will be created from a repurposed dumpster and feature a wide array of public programming, including talks, workshops, and arts activations on the Waterfront Plaza at Brookfield Place.
