'Ukiyo-e' translates to "Pictures of the floating world" & is the style of Japanese woodblock print and painting of the Edo period which often depicted scenes of the Floating World itself such as geisha, kabuki actors, sumo wrestlers, samurai, and landscapes. 27 artists will take inspiration of this movement and add a "Modern Ukiyo-e" twist to paint and embelish 1 of 2 types of fans in their style. One is the Uchiwa / paddle fan, and the other is the Sensu / folding fan.
