Hailing from the heart of the garden of England, Canterbury Doom outfit Famyne have, ever since conception in 2014, been steadily building a name for themselves, and a sound all of their own.
Gathering a dedicated following from the very first moment they exploded onto the scene, they quickly released the ‘Famyne EP’ in 2015, which spread their low, slow and haunting sound right across the metal world and beyond. The following year, the band won the Metal 2 the Masses competition in Kent, earning a place at Bloodstock Open Air 2016, before playing at Into The Grave Festival that same year in The Netherlands - their first foray into the wider doom community, but certainly not the last.
Famyne bring an insatiably energetic live performance, with hypnotic waves of crushing riffs and pounding rhythm, smothered in pure dread, expressed in the distinct, inimitable voice of their lead vocalist.
By the close of 2018, the band had self released their debut full-length album to critical acclaim, following it up with an extensive tour of Europe, which further pushed home their prototypical, distinct sound, and allowed citizens across the old world to experience them first hand. But they didn’t stop there: with ever increasing acclaim and momentum, in 2019 Famyne toured 11 countries once again, working hard to cement the reputation they had gained; dragging doom kicking and screaming into the 21st century, signing to Svart Records that same year.
Never one to rest on their laurels, during the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 the lads feverishly worked on the follow-up to their self-titled album, testing some unreleased material on the rapturous thousands gathered before them in the S.O.P.H.I.E. tent, at Bloodstock Open Air 2021.
In May of the following year the band's second album Famyne II: The Ground Below was released through Svart records, once again to critical acclaim. The album represents an evolution in the band's sound, with heavier songs on an altogether more epic scale, yet still they remain true to their doomy roots. The band toured both continental Europe and the UK throughout 2022/23 in support of the release, with highlights including opening the main stage at Into the Grave Fest, NL and also performing in Reykjavik, Iceland's capital.
In 2024, the band begun work on their third full length album, which shows a further development of their style into unknown territories, whilst still being firmly rooted in the doom bracket. A flurry of appearances in both the UK and EU with highlights including Red Crust Festival (Scotland), Siege of Limerick (ROI), & Margate Rock Festival.
Lowdown is:
Dave Runham - Guitar / Vocals : Ant Pinnell - Guitar / Vocals
Kev Smart - Bass Guitar : Richard Emms - Drums
All Hail The Riff. A war cry synonymous with the Hertfordshire-based four-piece that has seared its mark into the metal scene. Now, with relentless intent, Lowdown is poised to take the UK metal landscape by storm.
Born in lockdown’s wake, Lowdown erupted from the mind of Dave Runham—already a force in the metal world. He envisioned a band built for sonic destruction, a storm of riffs and melodies to ignite a new era of heavy music.
But vision needed power. Enter drummer Richard Emms, a name already known in the scene. With bassist Kev Smart, they locked into an unshakable groove. Then, in early 2023, guitarist Ant Pinnell arrived—the final piece of Lowdown’s sonic onslaught. Richer, heavier, unstoppable.
Channeling the grooves of Black Label Society, the melodies of Alter Bridge, the aggression of Pantera, and the weight of Sabbath, Lowdown deliver doom-laced chords and searing, down-tuned riffs—battle cries in musical form. Their arrival wasn’t just heard; it was felt.
At its core, Alpha Omega explores the cycle of beginnings and ends. “Everything starts and ends with us (you),” Runham explains. The album’s themes dive into war—both external and internal—capturing the struggle within. The first single ‘Set Fire’ embodies the frustration of realising the true battle is with yourself.
Looking back on the band's journey, Emms reflects, "The past two years have been electrifying—two unforgettable M2TM finals, incredible gigs, and now, our debut album. Lowdown was never just about playing metal; it was about making a statement. We set out to be aggressive, modern, and unstoppable, fusing raw
energy with crushing riffs. With Alpha Omega, that vision is now a reality."
Zebulon is a Norwegian doom metal quintet delivering crushing, slow-burning music steeped in apocalyptic themes and a sense of looming dread. Drawing inspiration from Candlemass,
Trouble, and early Black Sabbath, the band builds dense sonic landscapes of heavy, churning riffs layered with atmospheric textures and dramatic, reverent vocals.
Formed in 2022, Zebulon consists of Kristian B. Nessa (vocals), Torstein F. Obrestad (guitar), Kenneth Olsen (guitar), Oddmund Solheim (bass), and Frode Efteland (drums). In 2025, they
won Metal 2 the Masses Norway, earning a coveted slot on the New Blood Stage at Bloodstock Open Air 2025.
Fans describe their sound as “immersive and unforgettable — heavy, churning riffs with epic, dramatic vocals, double harmonies, and melodies that haunt you long after.”
Following the release of two digital singles in early 2024, Zebulon recorded their debut full-length album in the winter of 2025.
Mixed by Iver Sandøy (drummer/producer, Enslaved)
and engineered by Tollak Kalvatn Friestad (Skambankt), the album will be released on Apollon Records in late 2025 across digital platforms and as a limited edition vinyl.
For those experiencing Zebulon live, expect an intense, immersive performance where the music’s weight meets a powerful thematic message.
