Integrate movement, breath, and imagination in this family yoga class designed for children aged 4 to 10 and their grown-ups. Yoga for children is less focused on asana (yoga poses) and more geared toward playful learning about emotions, connection, and the mind-body connection. While learning about yoga poses and short sequences, you and your child will be encouraged to turn on your imagination as you move. You’ll learn some ways to integrate mindful movement, emotions check-ins, and social-emotional learning into your day, and even receive some activities to take home with you! This two-part series is a great way to learn and grow as a family, especially if you’re able to make it to both classes! We’ll share any “light bulb” moments that you and your child(ren) might have had over the course of the week and build on those lessons in week two.
Nicole is a certified yoga teacher, pediatric speech-language pathologist, and mom. She loves giving kids (and their grown-ups!) practical tools for mindfulness and emotional regulation, which are most helpful when practiced together in calm moments before a difficult situation arises! Nicole and her husband (a youth coach at BP!) met at a local climbing gym and love to build connections and community through climbing, photography, and parenthood.
