About this Event
Renew your sense of discovery, and reap the benefits of immersing yourself in real Florida, on our guided walk of Flint Pen Strand (FPS). This guided walk is geared for families and there is no age limit! The walk will be approximately two hours depending on the ages of those attending.
On this guided walk, you and the whole family will discover an essential part of the Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed (CREW)-one of the last wildlife corridors that stretches into the Everglades- and see firsthand local plants and animals of all shapes and sizes. Experience habitat restoration in action and discover the trails that you can continue to take advantage of long after your guided walk is over.
Time: 9:00am - 11:00am
Distance & Difficulty: ~1.5 miles at a leisurely pace but across uneven ground
What to Wear and Bring:
- Dress appropriately. We suggest: long pants, durable close-toed shoes, and hat.
- Wear or bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and bug spray.
- Hiking accessories, like walking stick, binoculars, camera equipment, flora and fauna guide books are optional but welcome.
- Bring plenty of water or re-hydration drink & snacks.
Age Limit: This walk is open to all.
Location: Flint Pen Strand Trailhead -15970 Bonita Beach Road, Bonita Springs, FL 34135. The walk will be led along the orange trail. Meet your guide at the Lakes Parking Lot. After entering FPS on Vincent Road, make an immediate right on the service road and the parking lot is ahead on your left.
Limited to 12 hikers. Only service animals allowed.
If you cannot attend the hike, please use your registration receipt (emailed upon purchase from Eventbrite) to request a cancellation at least 72 hours before the walk is scheduled.
