This free, family‑friendly event is open to the surrounding community and is designed for parents, caregivers, and children to experience the power of literacy together. Children in attendance will enjoy a guided story time, while parents and caregivers observe simple, practical techniques they can use at home to build a passion for reading and strengthen early literacy skills.
All children will walk away with a new book to take home, and light snacks and refreshments will be available. Family Reading Night is part of the Junior League of Rockford’s Literacy Leaders initiative—our commitment to improving literacy outcomes for women, adolescents, and families across Rockford. Through partnerships like Bookworm Vending Machines and the United Way’s United for Literacy initiative, we’re working to expand access to books, empower caregivers, and build a community where every child sees themselves as a reader.
Capacity is limited, and interested families are encouraged to RSVP to reserve their spot.
