July 8: Senses Hike
Animals rely heavily on their senses in order to survive. Come take a wander in the woods to explore your senses and see how they compare to those of our animal friends. After our hike, Young Audiences of Houston will host Tawanda’s Theatre on Wheels with a performance called “Why Mosquitos Buzz in People’s Ears.”
July 10: Sniffing Out The Tail
Did you know that bears can smell a squirrel from several miles away? Or that something as small as a moth can pick up the scent of a female that is over 4 miles away? Come put your sniffer to the test to see if you have what it takes to hunt down your prey in a fun outdoor game! After our activity, Young Audiences of Houston will host musician Hope Cowan with a performance called “Storytelling through Sound.”
July 12: The Sound of Nature
Ears come in many different shapes and sizes. For animals, their sense of hearing is essential for communication and for survival. Come test and fine tune your sense of hearing and make a craft to take home. After our activity, Young Audiences of Houston will host Tom’s Fun Band with a performance called “The Science of Sound.”
EAT OR BE EATEN
July 15, 17, AND 19 from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
July 15: Oh Deer!
Nature exists in a delicate balance of predator vs prey - both prime contenders in the web of life. Come explore the dynamic relationships between the hunters and the hunted and see how they are equipped with an amazing toolbox of traits that help them survive! Let’s play a game of survival of the fittest that pins prey against predator to see who makes it out alive! After our activity, Young Audiences of Houston will host artist Danny Russo with a make & take craft involving screen printing.
July 17: You Are What You Eat
Both predator and prey are equipped with tools that help them survive the game of life. Come join staff in making some fun crafts to illustrate some of these fun tools! After our activity, Young Audiences of Houston will host Tawanda’s Theatre on Wheels with a performance called “Sam I Am.”
July 19: Predator/Prey Hike
