About this Event
Join us for Family Meeting II: A Constant Practice—An intimate conversation about sustaining artistic practice, featuring artists Mobolaji Otuyelu, Goodluck Babatunde, Yadichinma Ukoha-Kalu and David Olatoye.
Family Meetings are Lianna Foundation's signature gatherings where we prioritize vulnerability, process, and honest exchange within the artistic community. This isn't a panel discussion or formal presentation. It's a space for real conversation about the realities of making and sustaining creative work.
Joining us in conversation:
- Mobolaji Otuyelu: Founder of AGBO ILÉ, artist and entrepreneur bridging ancestral clay practices with contemporary design
- Goodluck Babatunde: Founder of Olorunjedalo Productions, working at the intersection of performance, rhythm, and community
- Yadichinma Ukoha-Kalu: Visual artist engaging with research, materiality, and cultural narratives
- David Olatoye: Contemporary artist that explores layered dynamics of domestic life, memory, and emotional architecture
We'll explore questions like:
- What does "research" mean in your artistic practice?
- How do you identify and address gaps in your skills?
- How do you balance consistent production with personal wellness?
- What resources have shaped your practice?
The format is relaxed and intimate—everyone, including the guest artists, will be seated on mats in a circle.
About Family Meetings
Family Meetings challenge traditional formats by encouraging honest and collective reflection within the artistic community. These gatherings are a core part of Lianna Foundation's mission to create spaces where process is valued alongside finished work, and where artists can speak openly about both the challenges and joys of their practice.
Our first Family Meeting, "Beyond the White Wall," featured founders of independent art spaces in Lagos discussing why these spaces exist and what it takes to sustain them. We're continuing this tradition of honest, necessary conversations.
