About this Event
A Family Matinee Concert by the Niamh Keane Trio live in Áras Chrónáin, Clondalkin Village this summer. A folk music event for the entire family to enjoy featuring original music in English and as Gaeilge by local musician and songwriter Niamh Keane singing and playing the acoustic guitar and violin, accompanied by pianist and flautist Ailbhe Kehoe and local cellist David Sexton. There will be an interval for tea and coffee followed by an open mic for children, young people and parents in the audience to share a song or a poem. To finish the event, there will be more original music by the Niamh Keane trio and some toe-tapping sing-along songs for the family. This event is supported by South Dublin County Council.
Niamh Keane is a singer-songwriter, violinist, guitarist and pianist from Clondalkin. Her last single 'Imprints' (released February 2023) was described by The Thin Air magazine as "a folk craft that makes space for light and shade with a singular nuance" and "a gossamer ode to unconditional love that, across two contrasting chord progressions, gently pivots between a sense of darkness and release". Keane's most notable headline performances and collaborations include a double headline folk concert with legendary songwriter John Spillane, session violinist for Disney's Plus production of 'Bono & The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming with Dave Letterman", support slots for Damien Dempsey, Kíla, Stocktons Wing and repeat performances at Electric Picnics Irish Language tent 'An Puball Gaeilge'. Her songwriting has been recognised by IMRO's Christie Hennessy Songwriting Contest and the Pan Celtic National Song Contest. Accompanying Niamh at this event will be Ailbhe Kehoe (piano, flute, backing vocals) & David Sexton (cello).
