This will be the first of several family hIkes that will be planned during this anniversary year. We will walk down the hill from the parking lot, under the large railway bridge, under the Victoria Street overpass, and walk-on further upstream to loop around the ponds and back. We will enjoy a late fall family walk along the Grand River where we will observe fall changes happening in nature along the river and the ponds. On this lovely trail along the water, we hope to see blue herons, turtles, fish, chipmunks, other animals, along with many plants and insects common in pond areas. There are several spots along the way that we can get close to the river and the ponds. This area is a peaceful oasis between KW and the village of Breslau!
Please bring: masks, water (snacks optional), walking shoes, binoculars, and a camera if you are a photographer. Shorts will work, but there are grassy areas at the side of the trail so long pants would be perhaps needed if you are concerned about ticks. If anyone chooses to wade into the river or the pond, after we are done our hike, perhaps water shoes, pond dipping nets, and towels would be helpful. Fishing is common along the trail.
