About this Event
Get an up-close look at Chatfield Farms’ new solar garden. Take a short site tour of the agrivoltaics system, learn about the inner workings of solar energy. After, enjoy a walk through the corn maze! Lunch and family-oriented activities (including face painting) provided.
The photovoltaic effect describes the process through which sunlight is harnessed to generate electricity. The new solar garden at Chatfield Farms thoughtfully combines agriculture and solar photovoltaic panels to support sustainably grown food – thus the term “agrivoltaics.” In this system, crops and pollinator habitat are planted underneath the panels, creating valuable partial shade. Energy generated onsite will meet 100% of Chatfield Farms’ energy needs with excess energy donated to income-qualified Denver families.
Shuttles to and from the farm will be provided. Pick up locations and times to be confirmed via email.
