What are Family Constellations?
Imagine life as a big jigsaw puzzle. Each family is a puzzle, and every person is like a piece. Sometimes, a piece may feel like it doesn’t fit—this could show up as struggles with relationships, emotions, health, or even success.
Systemic and Family Constellations is a gentle yet profound way of putting the puzzle back together so each piece finds its rightful place. It helps us see hidden dynamics—unspoken loyalties, unresolved grief, or inherited burdens we may be carrying from our parents, grandparents, or even further back.
This method was developed by Bert Hellinger (1925–2019), a German psychotherapist and philosopher who observed that families, like rivers, have a natural flow. When that flow is disturbed, difficulties arise. By restoring order, belonging, and balance, peace and healing can return—not only for the individual, but often for the whole family system.
Workshop Flow (3–4 hours)
Introduction (15–20 mins)
A short talk on what Systemic & Family Constellations are, with real-life examples and an introduction to the core principles of Belonging, Order, and Balance.
Experiential Warm-up (15 mins)
Gentle guided exercises to help participants connect with their inner selves and foster a sense of group safety and openness.
Constellation Demonstrations (2–2.5 hours)
One or two participants bring forward a personal issue. With the group’s support, a “living map” of their family or system is created. Hidden patterns emerge, and healing sentences are introduced to restore flow and balance.
Group Reflection & Sharing (30–40 mins)
Participants share insights and reflections, followed by simple takeaway practices for continued integration.

About the Facilitator
Chayanika Bhiwaniwala is an internationally trained facilitator and founder of Self & Beyond, based in Kolkata, India. She is the President of the WICCI West Bengal Mental Health Council and Chairperson of the International Systemic Constellations Association (ISCA) India Chapter. Chayanika has spent over a decade guiding clients and groups through trauma healing, ancestral patterns, and systemic therapy, blending psychotherapy, mindfulness, and energy-based approaches.
This will be her first workshop in the United States. She is currently traveling to Mexico to host a retreat and will be visiting Pittsburgh in early November to share her work locally.
