About this Event
Join ScrapAntics and Art Workers for Palestine Dundee for a family friendly craft session, where we will make kites in solidarity with Palestine!
Whether you make a kite as a piece of art for a display, or to take outside and fly, kites have a symbolic significance for Palestinian freedom.
Flying kites have long been a symbol of defiance and hope in Palestine. In 2011, 15,000 children in Gaza broke the world record for the largest number of kites flown simultaneously.
On the 7th of December 2023, writer, academic and poet Dr Refaat Alareer was murdered in a targeted attack. His last poem, “If I Die, You Must Live to Tell My Story,” used the image of a white kite. Since then, white kites have been used as a symbol of solidarity in protests globally.
What pictures or words will you add to your kite?

About Art Workers for Palestine Dundee
We are a group of artists and art-workers who have gathered to coordinate locally, standing with the people of Palestine at a time of immense horror and genocide. Our events and campaigns aim to energise and make visible support for Palestine in our community and in the arts.
