About this Event
Margery Sullivan Chapter of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) is seeking family Bibles to be digitally scanned to save for posterity.
Family Bible typically hold the lists of special moments in the lives of a family. Recorded in an ancestor's own handwriting, they are a wonderful genealogical resource and are often the only records that may exist of a particular family or family member.
Think of the Bible Records Project as a way of "backing up" your Bible's historical values. As Bibles age, they deteriorate. Pages tear, ink fades and binding crack. Sometimes, they are even seen as trash and thrown out. Entire Bibles or relevant pages are welcome. Ideally needed are the Bible cover, Copyright page, Old Testament and New Testament page, Births page, Marriages page, and Deaths page. Any other relevant items housed in the Bible, such as obituaries or newspaper articles are also welcome to be scanned.
