About this Event

There are so many ways to spend time outdoors, and fly-fishing is a great way for kids and adults to connect and have fun outdoors together.

Join Sarah, owner of Rambling Ruby Rose Fly-Fishing Guides, in this outdoor exploration experience for children ages 5 and up and an adult companion. Families will learn about stream ecology, watershed health, and where to find fish in the rivers.

Our group of adventurous families will be meet at the Estes Park Visitor Center and leave promptly at 8:00 am to head into Rocky Mountain National Park for hands-on lessons and chance to catch some fish! The entire group will be provided gear and guided fly fishing instruction. Fun for the whole family!

Please note: An adult must be in attendance the entire course to supervise their child.

Who: Kids ages 5 and up, with an adult buddy. (One adult may supervise up to 3 children.)

When: Saturday, July 20, from 8:00am - 4:00pm

Where: Meet at the Estes Park Visitor Center, 500 Big Thompson Ave, Estes Park, CO. We will travel together into RMNP in Conservancy vehicles. Park entry fees and permits are included with your registration.

What to bring:

  • Plenty of water and a bag lunch for everyone in your group.
  • Sun protection: sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and protective clothing.
  • Bug protection! Where the bugs are, the fish are. We will be near the water and around biting insects.
  • Rain gear and warm layers for everyone in your group.
  • Sturdy footwear that you don't mind getting wet. We will be walking through tall grass to reach the water, and stream banks are often wet and slippery. Old sneakers or sturdy sandals are a good option.
  • A backpack to carry your group's gear. (You may leave extra gear on the vehicle as needed.)
  • Fishing gear IS provided, but you are welcome to bring any of your own gear if you'd like.

All participants must have a valid Colorado State Fishing License to participate. Please purchase your license ahead of the course! You can purchase a license online from CO Parks & Wildlife here: CO Parks & Wildlife Licenses
