Falsettos, the seamless pairing of two acclaimed Off-Broadway musicals, March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland, is a tale which follows neurotic New Yorker Marvin, his family, and his friends, as they learn to face the future with love and dignity.
After Marvin leaves his wife and son, Trina and Jason, following an affair with family friend Whizzer, we watch as he learns to exercise compassion and honesty, coming to recognise the wrongs of his past. Trina marries Marvin’s former psychiatrist Mendel, and Whizzer leaves him, but in Act 2, two years after the events of Act 1, all are reunited, joined by neighbours Charlotte and Cordelia, as Jason’s Bar Mitzvah approaches. With the emergence of the AIDs epidemic, this story explores grief and loss, but more importantly, it shows us the value of life, and of love.
