9am Monday 7 October –
3pm Thursday 10 October 2024, with parents invited to join us at 2pm to watch their campers ride the horses one last time.
All the usual fun on the farm, riding horses each day, including a photo shoot by professional photographer Sean Waller, games and stock work, as well as team challenges, crafts, and other fun activities.
This camp is run on our farm, Falling Creek Ranch, 15km out of Whanganui.
Some of the activities we have done and may include are archery, air rifles, trail blazing in the bush, raft building, lighting fires with a flint and steel, crafts, animal survival game, learning how to crack a whip and use a lasso, watching sheep be shorn, baking, campfire cooking, bush craft skills, bivi making, mud wrestling, and more.
We enjoy three homemade meals each day as well as snacks and of course canteen once a day. (campers can bring up to $20 cash for canteen) Check out our previous kids camps photos on our website gallery to see what kind of things we do at camp. We have teenage friends who come and help us as leaders during camp. Accommodation is at our house in separate bunk-rooms for girls and boys.
We will put you on a horse to match your ability and all the gear needed will be provided.
Or they can bring their own horse if:
They can be off the lead all the time – no exceptions. They must be able to catch, groom, pick out the hooves and saddle up their pony. They need to be able to walk and trot in a group of horses and maintain control. They must be able to put their pony through mud and water, ride up and down hills and be able to safely navigate the pony in bush and trees. Please do not think of camp as the place to teach your horse the above, if it needs schooling please arrange to do this with us before camp. Its not fair on all the other campers who have to wait around while your horse learns to walk through water etc,
During the camp you will be taught how to care for and ride a horse, and gain confidence through farm treks and games. If you can already ride we can help extend your abilities and confidence.
We are a Christian organisation and each day we have a fun, interactive program called "Sesh" based on the Bible, teaching good morals like being honest, treat other people the way you want to be treated etc.
Cost: $385 + optional canteen money $20 max)
To register fill out an online registration by going to our website, www.fallingcreekranch.co.nz, look under 'Our Camps', then 'camp registration forms' then pay your non refundable $100 deposit, which is required to secure your place, putting your campers name as a reference. The balance of camp fees are required 5 days before camp begins.
