Though spring is when most people get their gardens started, if you are looking to add new perennials, trees or shrubs to your landscape, fall is is actually the best time to plant them. Planting in fall allows them to get rooted and established over the winter when there is less stress and (usually) more adequate water. Then when spring comes, they are already rooted in and are able to put on a lot more growth that season than a spring planted of the same variety.This fall we will have -
Native plants (flowers, grasses, ferns, trees, shrubs, vines, wetland plants, herbs)
fall vegetable starts
perennial herbs (culinary and medicinal)
house plants (succulents)
fruiting plants such as goji, apples and elderberries
