Who is ready for a Fall Plant & Seed Swap?!?!Each year we host one or two swaps for the Greater Chattanooga area. Our spring swap is typically very popular and we get folks from all over to join! As always, this event is FREE to attend and EVERYONE is welcome! Leashed pets and kids (leashed preferred, but a watchful eye is strongly recommended), friends, family and strangers all can come!
What is a swap?
The way we swap is that you bring your extra seeds, plants, tools, any garden wares with you, pick a table if you have lots, bring a wagon or basket if you have a little. Sit a spell and chat with fellow gardeners, swap what you want, shop UHS, BYOB (or water) and hang out! For seeds we recommend packaging them out into seed packets of 5 to 20 seeds, labeled and ready to go. For plants, bring in pots or a bag or a box and labeled.
What if I dont have much or anything to swap?
That's okay! Most of us are hoarders and very friendly! This is why we host this event! Our garden community is awesome and we are so proud to be a part of it! Many give away seeds and plants! UHS aslo has seeds to sell, along with blank seed pack's for you to divy them out in!
Can I sell plants?
YES! Absolutely you can bring plants for sale! We do ask that you bring pest and disease free plants. If you are not sure, please leave them at home! We sell plants here at the store and take preventative measures to keep a clean and pest free environment. We also do not offer wifi, so please bring a way to sell using data or cash. We cannot guarantee sales.
Do I need to bring tables, chairs, tents?
Not necessary, we will have some set up, but we do have a limited number of tables. If you are low on room in your car, please don't stress over bringing a table. If you have a whole set up and you are able to bring it, please do! If it's forecasted to be hot or rainy, bring a pop up tent!
What kind of plants/seeds can I bring?
Anything that is legal to grow or possess, that is NOT invasive or a noxious W**d (wisteria, nandina, privet, honeysuckle, or poison ivy to name a few) and that is pest and disease free. Houseplants, vegetables, herbs, succulents, flowers and perennials are all welcome!
When is the best time to show up?
Most activity is from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. The store is open until 4 and there will be a take a plant/seed, leave a plant/seed table for those who want to leave their leftovers. To be part of the action, we recommend arriving around 1:00 pm est.
