Join us for a native plant share! Why are native plants so important?
Native plants, shrubs, and trees are vital to the food web that supports our local ecosystems—which include the butterflies, moths, and bees that are pollinators—as well as the songbirds and other wildlife that share our communities. Native plants are defined as plants that have been growing in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States since before European settlement. If you are not sure if a plants is native, check the Maryland Plant Atlas. You may also try via one of several apps: FloraQuest, PictureThis or iNaturalist Apps.
Bring your plants bare root or in new potting soil to avoid spreading invasive jumping worms.
No plants to share? No problem - we are happy to help you start your native garden with our extras. Stick around after the share for our general meeting to meet others who care about making the Towson area greener, healthier and more beautiful!
