Fall Focus: From Pregnancy to Parenthood - Promising Approaches in WNCJoin WFW and an amazing panel of local experts to learn more about the multi-faceted approaches to improving maternal health outcomes in WNC
North Carolina has a growing maternal healthcare crisis – the state rate of maternal deaths is a third higher than the national average, and Black women in N.C. are three times more likely to die of pregnancy-related causes than white women. Additionally, many areas of our western region are classified as “maternity care deserts” where there are no hospitals providing obstetric care, no birth centers, no OB-GYNs, and no certified nurse midwives. How is WNC bridging the gap in maternal health care to support mothers, babies and families?
Fortunately, many organizations in our region are doing inspiring work to improve maternal care and outcomes. Join Women for Women as we learn from a panel of major players in the maternal health field and discuss the multi-faceted approaches to care. From providing health education, improving access, reducing health inequities, and addressing substance use disorders, our panelists are dedicated to helping mothers and babies in WNC survive and thrive.
