The Albemarle Symphony Orchestra, directed by Philip Clark, is pleased to present a stirring program to see you into the autumn. We will begin with the Hungarian March from Berlioz’s Damnation of Faust. Guest conductor Mark Taylor will wield the baton for this rousing opener. Next, we are excited to present visiting professor and Charlottesville Symphony principal Jeremy Ulm as soloist in Mozart’s Horn Concerto no.4. We will end the program with the eminently tuneful Symphony in d minor by César Franck. Unusual in structure, this 3 movement symphony is brimming with romantic melody and lively rhythm that may have you humming well into the holiday season.
As always, the concert is free but we do depend on donations to allow us to rent venues, purchase music, and pay talented professionals a decent honorarium. Please visit www.albemarlesymphony.org to rsvp and/or to contribute. Rsvp is not required but helps us plan the event. No tickets are needed and every seat in Grisham Hall is a good one.
Please share the event so that this hardworking orchestra gets the audience it deserves. We are extremely grateful to those who have supported us over the years and we hope to make many new friends as years go by.
