Handbuilding Techniques
- Sgraffito: Demonstration and practice of the sgraffito technique, where participants carve designs into the clay surface.
- Coiling: Instruction on creating forms using the coiling method, rolling clay into long ropes and blending them to create visual interest.
- Incorporating Gems and Crystals: Guidance on embedding gems and crystals into clay pieces for added texture and visual interest.
About the instructor:
Lorelle Whittingham (she/her) uses materials, such as clay, light, and found objects, to create pieces that are often playful and celebrate imperfections and individuality. She invites viewers on an emotional journey, aiming to provoke creative expression and societal change. Lorelle’s workshops reflect her artistic philosophy, encouraging participants to explore their own identities and emotions through art.
