The Butte College Symphonic Band invites audiences on a musical odyssey that follows the timeless hero’s journey—an archetype of adventure, challenge, transformation, and return. In A Hero’s Journey, performers from across the Butte College instrumental program come together to explore courage, imagination, and discovery through vivid and cinematic soundscapes.The concert features performances by the Percussion Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, and Woodwind Ensemble, alongside the full Symphonic Band, in a program that highlights both individual artistry and collective power. Works include Giovanni Santos’s Dolores, AmeriCan, a powerful reflection on struggle and resilience; Toby Fox’s Hopes & Dreams / His Theme from Undertale, a heartfelt portrayal of compassion and perseverance; Katahj Copley’s UPTILT, an electrifying work that embodies determination and forward motion; Koji Kondo’s Legend of Zelda Medley and Zelda’s Lullaby, evoking adventure, nostalgia, and quiet introspection; Christopher Tin’s Sogno di Volare (The Dream of Flight), which soars with hope and possibility; John Williams’s Raiders March from Raiders of the Lost Ark—and more!
