faintest idea _ Faintest Idea take the bouncing beat of 2 Tone Ska and smash it over the head with fast, angry UK Punk. Hailing from the East Anglian region of Britain the rabble rousing political lyrics are shouted over layers of catchy brass lines and heavy boot stomping beats. Signed to TNSrecords in the UK and Jump Start Records in the USA, the band have extensively toured the UK, Europe, Russia,Canada, Japan & the USA. Playing anywhere and everywhere from squats to venues to festival main stages and drawing inspiration from bands such as The Specials, The Filaments & Operation Ivy this is angry political commentary that you can shout along to while stomping your feet.
LOW COAST - You might know Gameface. And you might know Jeff Caudill. But you don’t know Low Coast.
Not that Caudill, erstwhile Gameface frontman and 20-year veteran of the California melodic punk scene, would blame you for not knowing about his new band. In the beginning he wasn’t entirely sure he knew what Low Coast was either.
“I thought I was making an acoustic record,” the frontman says. “But as the subject matter got more broad, the need for more instrumentation grew. I started hearing the songs in my head as big rock songs, and I knew I wasn’t writing a Gameface album, but I also didn’t want to retrace the same old steps as I’d done with my solo records – writing all of the parts and asking people to play them. I needed it to be a true collaboration.”
Caudill recruited guitarist Dave Hemann, drummer Terence Yoshiak (Beat Pharmacy, Black Eyed Peas), and bassist Mike Fratantuno (Black Eyed Peas, and no I’m not making that up), and together they wrote and recorded the 10 songs that make up the band’s slightly awkwardly-titled debut album, ‘Existing The Dream’, due out in May via Spartan Records. Press play below to hear the first taste of that.
