About this Event

Challenged and don't know where to begin with diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) work? Wanting to build community outside of your comfort zone? Drop-in to one session or join for the series to take immediate action on building out your playbook using the creative community model and infuse your marathon of DEIB with joy, hope and creativity. This hands-on, participatory session is designed for decision-makers of all kinds, whether on the job or in community settings. Come with your blockers and leave with new tools, new understandings, new connections and new resources.

  • SESSION 7 - April 23: How to Engage in Allyship & Mutual Aid
  • SESSION 8 - April 30: How to Sustain Creative Placemaking/keeping
  • SESSION 9 - May 7: How to Build a Culture of Consent
  • SESSION 10 - May 14: How to Promote Innovation & Design

Sessions may be taken as a series or a one-time workshop, depending on what you need. You can sign up for the entire series here or individual sessions here. Participants of 7+ modules will receive a Certificate of Completion after facilitating at a community demo day to demonstrate learning. More details provided in class!

This will support you with meetings, productivity, team-building, professional development, addressing conflict, building inclusive spaces, harm reduction, cooperation over competition, critical analysis, strategic planning, community service and engagement, leadership, internal and external communications, adapting to the post-2020 work culture, and authentic branding.

About the facilitator:

Cortina Jenelle Caldwell, MAML is a servant leader, perpetual student of life and native of the Blue Ridge Mountains. After coming off a 2 year global digital nomad adventure, Cortina moved to Chattanooga to put down new roots after falling in love with the natural landscape, thriving arts sector and spirit of service. Cortina holds a Masters of Arts in Business Management & Leadership (MAML) and has been extensively trained in diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) by Racial Equity Institute, National Guild Community Arts Education, The People's Institute, Government Alliance on Race & Equity, Search Institute, Mycelium School, PYE Global and YES! World. Her work, a unique infusion of the creative community model and DEIB, has been recognized and featured by Creative Mornings, PechaKucha, NPR, UNC World View, City of Asheville, various chapters of United Way, YWCA's Stand Against Racism, Dogwood Alliance, Earthaven Ecovillage and many others.
