Synopsis
Based on the five core principles of Agile, this sharing revolves around employing leadership competencies to explore effective application. Using the experiences in this group, what makes it easy or difficult to be or become agile in action and intent? What is similar or different in the roles of leader or follower?
Starting from this, we can reflect at a deeper level on engagement as leaders and followers. What is the effort for the team to move beyond mere practicing of a set of tools? Agile values raise the expectations and standard needs for both to function responsibly.
From a follower's perspective, it prompts consideration of how values either challenge or support the individual roles assumed while recognizing the need to develop as a leader if Agile is to succeed over time.
For a leader, understanding their role requires the ability to both follow and lead if the team is to succeed, as it raises its own set of challenges in individual, organizational and team context.
About the Facilitator
With more than 40 years of experience as a facilitator and trainer of leaders all over the world, Lawrence is experienced with facilitating effective development partnerships between private companies, government organizations, other non-profits and rural communities. His corporate clients include OCBC Bank, Citibank, Shell Oil, Caltex, Compaq Computers, TUV Rheinland and Aetna Life Insurance. His diverse experience has led to him having a well-rounded perspective on organizational dynamics and the ability to tailor mentorship for specific needs.
As a Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF) and Certified Technology of Participation® Facilitator (CToPF), he specialises in collaborating with clients and co-facilitators to create long term organization and individual change through facilitation, integrating Appreciative Inquiry/ Open Space and many other processes that support group and individual shared learning and responsibility into his methods.
