When writing novels in the early noughties, I loved spending time developing characters. Following publication, I was invited to speak at writing conferences, literary festival and run workshops - where I discovered that I love developing writers even more. Twenty years later, my Storysmith course, is the result of that. Storysmith covers all aspects of the art and craft of telling stories for writers - from the dreaded writers block that tries to trip you at the first hurdle, through conflict, plot and structure, voice and narration, characters and their roles, setting and endings. This first workshop is a whistle-stop tour through everything ‘Storysmithery’, a pilot session that aims to help you identify your writing fragilities and how we might go about addressing them. Let’s build your confidence and bolster your enthusiasm, whether you are trying to craft the perfect short story or write the perfect chapter of an epic novel.
