Welcome to our Summer 2024 Holiday Workshops!
Our workshops are based on a design and make principle. Participants will be guided through a design project and then we will make their design for them to have (sometimes in the session and sometimes after the session - see below).
Places are very limited so booking is essential. It will not be possible to turn up without a ticket. For this workshop, participants need to be aged 6* to 15yrs. Emergency contact details will be completed during the checkout process.
*If the child is 6 or 7yrs, an adult must stay inside the FabLab to support their design throughout the workshop.
Please note that we need a minimum of four people to book for the workshop to go ahead. If less than 4 tickets are sold, we will contact you and refund your payment. Participants should be dropped off at the FabLab and collected at the end of the workshop.
About this Workshop:
In this design session, participants will learn how to create their own vector-based 2D design of an initial (normally people use the first letter in their name). Their design will be approx A4 in size and will be laser-engraved and laser-cut from 4mm laser plywood. This means it is light and can be hung on a wall, window or door. Their initial can have lots of design features included within it.
Some will be made in the workshop. It will not be possible to make all designs in the workshop. It takes a long time for the laser cutter to engrave and cut out designs this big. We will let you know when it is possible to collect your designs. We can also arrange for them to be sent for collection to any Devon Library if this is closer for you.
Illness - if your child is ill for any reason please do not attend. It is essential that your child does not attend if they are displaying any Covid-19 symptoms, including a cough.
Special Needs - If your child/ren would have support in their learning at school/at home, please ensure that an adult attends to support their learning in the FabLab.
Refunds - our policy is no refunds. If you are unable to attend, please let us know as we are running a waiting list and, if we can resell your ticket, we will refund your ticket (but not the Eventbrite fee). If we cannot resell your ticket then no refund will be issued. If you are unable to attend then please notify us as soon as possible and then we can 'release your ticket'.
If we have to cancel a workshop for any reason, we will refund you your payment.
Late Arrival - It will not be possible to join the workshop if you arrive more than 15 minutes late. By this time, we are getting into the technical content of the workshop and it's not possible to go back over what we have already covered.
Mobile Phones
Mobile phones should not be used in the group session. It is ok for participants to have a phone with them but they must not be used in the session.
