About this Event
Participants will take part in a variety of workshops throughout the day (11:00 - 3:20pm). This taster sessions will include Tin Whistle, Celtic Harp (Clàrsach), Fiddle, Gaelic Singing and a Gaelic language lesson/conversation circle. These workshops will be suitable for those with no prior experience (as well as those who come with a bit of musical skill!) The sessions will be delivered in Gaelic as far as possible and will be most suitable for those learning or fluent in the language. Non-Gaelic speakers are welcome to attend and will be supported in following instructions (and having fun whilst learning a new language!).
Registration will be at10:45am.
Each session will last 45 minutes (with the exception of Clàrsach and Fiddle, for which the group will be split in half for 20minutes of each instrument).
Participants should come prepared with a packed lunch. Lunch will be at 12:55pm - 1:40pm. (Alternatively, the cafe should be open at this time.)
Please note that mobile phones will not be permitted during workshops and these should be on silent at these times.
There will be no more than 10 people in this group for most of the workshops. A timetable will be given and workshop rooms will be well signposted. Angus Alive staff and members of our CnamP committee will be around to assist with finding your workshop room if needed.
After the workshops, families are invited to attend a coffee afternoon at Forfar Guide Centre (4mins away via car at Myre Car Park, Forfar, DD8 1AZ). There will be no entrance fee or set prices for a cuppy and cake but donations will be welcome to help fund this event (and hopefully future events too!). Anyone who attended workshops (and those who order in Gaelic!) can get their refreshment for free! We hope to have some music (and maybe a bit of a singalong?!) while we are there. Donations of baking would be most appreciated for this event and can be dropped of during registration, or at the coffee afternoon.
This event has been made possible with funding from Bòrd na Gàidhlig. It has been organised by Comann nam Pàrant Aonghais (Angus's Gaelic Parent Association) and Comhairle Aonghais (Angus Council), with support from Fèisean nan Gàidheal.
