ABOUT THE PRESENTATION: Created in 1979, EZTV (eztvmuseum.com) stands as a unique chapter in LA's diverse art history. Home to a diverse range of artists, videomakers, and communities over the course of its first 45 years of existence, EZTV has had a global influence on the development of video, digital, and performance art. From creating (without the land owner's permission) the West Hollywood Sign, to doing early experiments with the internet, from one of the world's first microcinemas to one of the world's first art galleries dedicated to digital art, from campy over the top videos to lush multimedia live performance, founding member Michael J. Masucci will share highlights, crazy stories, as well as a few heartbreaking ones. Here is LA's uncategorizable theater, production company and art space, raw, uncompromised and unsupervised.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Founding member Michael J. Masucci, who has directed the space since 1993, is a museum-exhibited artist, a lecturer, Santa Monica Arts Commissioner and co-creator of DNA Festival Santa Monica.
