About this Event

Services

Eye2Eye offers peer support to callers anywhere in the United States ages 18 and older.
Callers to the program are paired with peer support specialists who have varied backgrounds and degrees of vision loss. Peer support specialists are trained in active listening and reflective response, identification of strengths, goal setting, risk and wellbeing assessment, and key frameworks of peer support (e.g. Eight Dimensions of Wellness, Swarbrick, 2006). In addition to providing emotional support, peers also play an active role in connecting callers to local community resources. Once assigned to a peer, callers receive scheduled calls from their peer support specialist. Average calls last 30 to 45 minutes and each caller is given close, personalized attention tailored to his or her needs.

Eye2Eye offers the following:

  • Emotional Support
  • Community Connection
  • Assessments of Needs and Wellbeing
  • Goal Setting
  • Information and Resources
  • Referrals
  • Support for Families and Loved Ones

Virtual Peer Support Groups

Callers have the opportunity to participate in peer support groups over conference call or Zoom with other callers across the US once a month. We also provide specialized groups at different times such as our new to vision loss workshop series, spouses and family member support groups, and young adult support group.

We also offer services in Spanish. También ofrecemos servicios en español.

Disclosure Statement:
Eye2Eye is not a crisis helpline nor is it intended as a substitute for professional health care. Although our Peer Support Specialists are trained to provide support to callers, they do not have the training to provide medical advice, therapy or professional mental health services.
