About this Event
About the Tour:
Superior Arts District is Downtown Cleveland’s 5th National Register District and boasts Downtown’s largest concentration of preservation easement projects. In the 1920’s it emerged as Cleveland’s second Garment District, after Warehouse District, with newer buildings that featured natural light and improved work conditions. Buildings aged, then sat vacant until early 2000, when public support and policy was established to promote artists housing which resulted redevelopment of buildings, like Tower Press, an artist community, with retail space and 80 live-work lofts. Redevelopment projects continued, and attracted a major corporate headquarters to Superior Arts District, Downtown’s newest adaptive reuse neighborhood.
TAKE A HIKE® is a program of Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation and offers FREE, in-person walking tours of unique and historic neighborhoods in Cleveland! This private tour is offered to National Historic Preservation Easements Summit guests and will be led by Tom Yablonsky.
