Get inspired by expressive landscape artists and begin experimenting with colour, mark-making, and loose brushwork. You’ll create quick studies to explore mood, atmosphere, and personal style.

Week 2 – Composition & Simplifying the Landscape

Learn how to break down complex landscapes into simple shapes and strong compositions. You’ll plan your main painting, exploring focal points, depth, and dynamic layout.

Week 4 – Texture, Layering & Developing Expression

Add depth and interest through layering techniques such as glazing, dry brushing, and alternative mark-making. This session focuses on creating movement and expressive texture in land, sky, and water.

Week 5 – Refining Shapes & Enhancing Atmosphere

Strengthen contrast, refine key elements, and adjust colour harmony to enhance mood. You’ll learn how to guide the viewer’s eye using light, shadow, edges, and subtle detailing—while keeping the work expressive.
