Expressive Arts Studio: Connecting With the Creative Process Take the time to open the window to your creative side. Go wild with color, texture, movement, or sound and your creative process! In this introductory class , we will explore an open expressive arts studio to combine uninhibited artmaking with thoughtful writing and reflection. In creating a safe space, free of any comment or criticism, we will provide you with a healthy environment to access your inner wisdom and explore and expand your intuition. No prior art or writing experience is necessary - just an open mind. In this time, we will have a simple orientation, and a guided process then time for you to independently explore through movement, writing, drawing, painting, and simple sculpture materials. Jennie Kristel, MA, REAT, APTT, RMT Is a registered expressive arts therapist, teacher, supervisor, accredited Playback Theatre trainer, and Reiki Teacher, working in a trauma-informed, culturally relevant private practice called JourneyWorks LLC. She is an international trainer of both Playback Theatre and Expressive Arts Therapy, an artist, and a visiting Core instructor at Lesley University. She has written on using the arts in therapy including co-writing Using Art Therapy in Diverse Populations: Crossing Cultures and Abilities, and published chapters and articles about using the arts in the community,, Disability, and grief. She currently works with people and groups using the expressive arts to support healing from intergenerational and ancestral trauma to access Connection through Joy in their lives. She also is a mixed media artist and avid gardener. Jennie lives in the Southcoast of Massachusetts.
