In this Two day class, seasoned artist Carol Harriman will guide students through the fundamentals of art theory and the very essence of artistic composition and expression. You'll learn why different colors, placement, and textures matter all while folowing along with Carol's oil painting demonstration featuring the tranquility of nature. After this class, you won't just take home a beautiful piece of art - you'll leave with the knowledge of how and why. No matter your skill level, you’ll gain confidence, refine techniques, and create meaningful artwork that reflects your unique style. Start your artistic journey here, and paint something incredible together.
Please bring the following supplies to class:
Paint Brush and Pallet knife set
Oil Paint Set for beginners
Extra Titanium white paint
Paint Pallet
A Container with a lid to keep your paints fresh
An 11x14 Canvas
A small dish for your medium (anything similar to this will suffice)
A 2 inch soft brush
About the Instructor:
Carol is a seasoned art educator and painter whose creative journey began in the 1960s with china painting. Over the decades, she has cultivated a diverse and expressive practice, blending traditional techniques with contemporary exploration. Her work spans china painting, palette knife textures, oil landscapes, seascapes, still life’s and abstract compositions — each infused with a deep love for nature and storytelling.
Carol offers classes that emphasize strong foundational skills as well as techniques and theory, personal expression, and a supportive, hands-on learning environment. Her teaching style is both encouraging and precise, helping students of all levels build confidence and discover their unique artistic voice.
Regardless if you are a beginner or an art major come have fun learning or relearning the basics or art!
